Edited because people horribly discriminate.
I found Lamictal/Lamotrigine to be a huge help for bipolar during some of my most difficult periods, but in general I find I don’t rely on it and don’t use it unless I feel like I’m not coping. Which thankfully isn’t very often. I find understanding myself better, getting to know the nature of the beast so to speak, goes a long way in dealing with my moods. I suppose it’s more of a cognitive approach to treatment, but it’s comforting to know there’s something to take the edge off when it becomes overwhelming.
I honestly couldn’t tell you if the Lamactal does anything more than a placebo, but I do think that it may have saved my life at one point.
